NANAIMO — Interim orders apply to a local massage therapist in response to a complaint from a female client.
The patient made the report to the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) on Wednesday, April 23 regarding the alleged conduct of Robert Paradis, a Nanaimo-based registered massage therapist.
The CCHPBC Inquiry Committee implemented an extraordinary action leading to interim restrictive conditions on Paradis’ massage therapy services.
According to the interim order, the Inquiry Committee panel considered the allegations serious and that factors indicating the alleged conduct would likely recur.
“Therefore, the panel determined that the public must be protected by an interim order during the investigation, pending any disciplinary hearing.”
Several orders currently in place against Paradis include not treating any patients who identify as female, and providing the regulatory college weekly electronic access to his work calendar with contact clients’ contact information.
He’s also subject to random on-site audits.
Allegations taken against Paradis remain unproven unless admitted or determined by the CCHPBC Discipline Committee.
