Nov 20 – Nurdles!
Did you know… the shape of toothpaste on your toothbrush has a NAME? It’s called a NURDLE! AND… there was once a lawsuit over which toothpaste company had the right to portray it. In 2010, Colgate and the makers of Aquafresh toothpaste, were involved in a legal battle over the use of nurdles in their advertising. The two companies reached a settlement in 2011. Who knew there was so much drama in the world of Toothpaste! Nurdle is such a fun word, tell the kids about it tonight when they’re getting ready for bed, they may not believe you!
Nov 21 – The first TV
Did you know… The first electronic television was successfully demonstrated to the press by 21-year-old Philo Farnsworth in San Francisco in 1927. While he was still in high school, he had begun to conceive of a system that could capture moving images in a form that could be coded onto radio waves and then transformed back into a picture on a screen. Interestingly… The TV Remote wasn’t invented until the 50s! It was developed by Zenith Radio and it was called Lazy Bones. It was connected to the television by a wire. Apparently people weren’t a fan of the cord because, you guessed it, people kept tripping on it! Not long after that, a wireless remote was invented. And the rest is history…
Nov 22 – Australia and the Moon
@loveislandau It’s all about perspective… but also… it’s not 🌚>🌏 LoveIslandAU | Stream for free on @9Now
Did you know… Australia is WIDER than the MOON? Kinda puts things into perspective doesn’t it? The moon sits at 3,400 kilometers in diameter, while Australia’s diameter from east to west is almost 4,000 km… it reminds of this clip from IRONICALLY Love Island Australia of contestant Abby Miller who is CONVINCED that the moon is bigger than earth, just have a listen…. GIRL the continent you live in is wider!!!
Nov 23 – Cosmic Latte
On this National Espresso Day, did you know…..The Universe’s average colour has a name?? It’s called ‘Cosmic latte’. In a 2002 study, astronomers found that the light coming from galaxies averaged into a beige colour that looks like a delicious latte. It was almost called “cappuccino cosmico” but they went with Cosmic Latte. I love it! You can tell that these scientists clearly had a caffeine bias!
Nov 24 – Black Friday
Did you know… Black Friday wasn’t always the biggest shopping day! It didn’t earn that title until the 2000s. Up until that point, the Saturday before Christmas was typically the busiest day of the year for shopping! Apparently because back then, we were much bigger procrastinators!
